About me
I was born and raised in California. In 2008, I joined the army as a Parachute Rigger. After almost 7 years I finally accepted the calling to be at home with my children, who, along with my husband of 15 years, are my pride and joy.
My interest in the birthing process was first sparked after my 3 very different births in Army hospitals. I had the privilege of having a doula at each birth. When sharing my experiences with other moms, I realized that not everyone looks back at their births with confidence and even joy. My heart would break whenever I’d hear a momma say “I wish I would have known ____” or “I wish I would have done _____ differently.” It didn’t seem right for my friends to reminisce about the most transcendental moments of their lives with should have, could have, and would haves. Why was this such a common rhetoric?
Later, while working on my psychology degree I came face to face with the sad reality of the health and economic disparities in our country, especially among childbearing women. Turns out the bottom line is EDUCATION. Knowledge IS power, and the physical and emotional repercussions of said knowledge surrounding birth are far-reaching.
Many years ago I discovered that teaching is my spiritual gift. I’ve since taught a unique variety of subjects to both children and adults.
I am passionate about helping families invest in their children -our future- even before they are born. About empowering them as they approach a critical transition.
If you and your spouse are wanting to be active participants in your birth story, and not just spectators, I would love to walk that road with you.
